A Negro Train Porter
Is in Jail Charged with Criminal Assault on Negro Girl

Jim Curry, a negro train porter in the passenger department of the Texas & Pacific between here and Fort Worth is in jail on the Texas side charged with the crime of criminal assault upon Ethel Edwards, a 14-years -old negro girl, down in Swampoodle.

The complaint was made by the girl's mother who stated that the offense was committed about two weeks ago. Curry will be given a preliminary hearing before Justice Henry tomorrow (Monday) morning.

Rev. Dr. Percy Fenn (sp), after two days spent in greeting his former parishioners and hosts of friends here returned to Little Rock on the Iron Mountain train yesterday afternoon. Few clergymen who have served charges in Texarkana were ever so fortunate as to endear themselves to their congregations to the extent that Dr. Fenn did during the six years he was pastor of St. James Parish. Bring real pleasure to hundreds of real people to see him again and there was genuine belief that he was compelled to make his sojourn so brief.

Births

Born – To Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Vinson on Saturday morning, November 4th, a fine son. The happy father is wearing his new honors with becoming dignity, saying but little to the rubble, but to few confidential friends it is said, he expressed a serious inclination to run for "high sheriff".
