Ruth Stout Abbott - CANTON - Services for Ruth Stout Abbott, 81, Canton, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at Eubank Funeral Home Chapel, Canton, with the Rev. Don Childress officiating. Burial will be in haven of Memories Memorial Park, Canton.

Mrs. Abbott died Aug. 9, 2007, in Canton. She was born March 10, 1926 in Canton to the late Connie Lee and Lois H. Cash Stout. She graduated from Martins Mill High School and Rutherford Business College. She was a "Rosie the Riveter" during World War II at North American Aircraft and a bookkeeper for several years. She was active in many organizations, including past matron of Canton No. 667 Order of Eastern Star, past president of Friends of the Library, past president and an organizing member of Mathea Guild, past president of Van Zandt County Genealogical Society. She was a member of Jessie Miller Foster Chapter of United Daughters of the Confederacy, an organizing member of Christian Woman's Club, Red Hat Society Friendship Club and others. She received the Award of Distinction as newspaper columnist from State Genealogical Society in 1992 and Volunteer of the Year award in 2003 from Texas State Genealogical Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Erbye Abbott, in 2005 and brother, Odes Stout. Survivors include son, Mike Stout, Canton; brothers, J.L. Stout and Bobby Stout, both of Canton; sister, Faye Norrell; two granddaughters; and two great-greandchildren.

Pallbearers are Donnie Norrell, Dennis Norrell, Jerry Stout, Skipper Stout, Calvin Stout, Jessie Stout and Scott Stout.

Family will receive friends 6-8 p. m. Saturday at the Funeral Home.
