
Funeral services for Mrs. Billy (Juanita) Hubbard, 54, of Coleman, were 3:30 p.m. Friday, November 11 in Emmanuel Baptist Church, Paul Hubbard of Emmanuel Baptist Church officiating. Mrs. Hubbard died Thursday, November 10, 1983 at 3:40 a.m. in Overall-Morris Memorial Hospital.
Born November 7, 1929 in Coleman, Mrs. Hubbard was the daughter of T. R. And Nancy Wisener Knowles. She was married to Billy Hubbard on October 10, 1947 in Coleman. Mrs. Hubbard was a lifetime resident of Coleman and attended the Coleman schools. She was a homemaker and member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Roy (Becky) Martin of Bangs; three sons, Billy Jr. of Early, Gary of Santa Anna and Jimmy of Coleman; one brother, Fred Knowles, Sr. Of Coleman and 7 grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Charles Hubbard, Ronnie Roberts, Eddins Ward, Dwayne Munger, Fred Knowles, Jr. And Jerry Knowles.
Interment was in the Coleman Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
(There is a large plot in the Coleman cemetery where the Hubbards, Atkinsons, and Knowles families are buried.)
Ruby Atkinson, age 88 of Abilene and former Coleman resident, died Friday, December 3, 2004 at San Marcos nursing home. Funeral Service will be held today (Tuesday, December 7, 2004) at 11:00 a.m. in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. H.S. Calahan officiating. Burial will follow in the Coleman Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
She was born Ruby Katherine Hubbard on November 12, 1916 in Coleman, Texas, a daughter of the late A. L. Hubbard and Flora Finley Hubbard. She grew up and attended school in Coleman. On October 10, 1938 she married Robert L. Atkinson in Brownwood and he preceded her in death on January 7, 1982. Ruby moved from Coleman in 1948 to Lubbock and then to Abilene in 1972. She was a homemaker and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Abilene. She also was the coffee bar operator at WTU from 1974-1979.
Suvivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Henry and Gwenette Atkinson of Lubbock, Texas; one daughter, Peggy Townes of San Marcos, Texas; two sisters, Wilma Threadgill and Dorothy Bohannan both of Abilene, Texas; 10 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren.
This Hubbard is probably related to Adolphus. Howard Lee's grandparents were Charlie and Maggie Hubbard.

January, 2004Funeral services for Howard Lee Hubbard, age 58, of Early, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church of Early with Revs. Calvin Knight and Eddie Ailshie officiating. Interment followed in the Cross Cut Cemetery in Brown County, under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home of Early. Mr. Hubbard died Monday, January 19, 2004 at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.
Howard Lee Hubbard was born in Coleman on February 21, 1945 to Archie and Oneta Hubbard. He grew up in Odessa and worked for the Ector County Schools. Later he moved to Early and was a volunteer at the Good Samaritan Ministries.
Survivors include his mother, Oneta Hubbard of Early; one brother, Ron and wife, Betty, of Odessa; three nephews, two nieces; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Archie Hubbard and his grandparents, Atha and Leroy Byrd and Maggie and Charlie Hubbard.
