Mrs. James A. Dodson

Mrs. James A. (Pearl) Dodson, 90-year-old resident of 307 North Chancery Street here, succumed to an extended illness in the Lively Heights Nursing Home here at 2 a.m. Saturday.

Born May 12, 1886, in Warren County, she had been ill for 10 years. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Ada Rust Martin. Mrs. Dodson was the great-granddaughter of Asa Faulkner, one of the pioneer settlers of Warren County and one of the founders of the Faulkner Springs Mill. She was the granddaughter of Captain Thomas B. Rust and Adalilne Faulkner Rust. In 1912 she was married to James A. Dodson, who survives.

For many years before declining health, Mrs. Dodson was active in the work of the First Baptist Church, serving as president of the Women's Missionary Union and as circle chairman. She was a teacher of an adult ladies Sunday School class for over 25 years. Mrs. Dod was also active in the Rural Letter Carriers Auxiliary for many years, serving as president and as a delegate to the National Convention in Washington, D. C. in 1938.

Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Stephen P. (Kate) Smith, McMinnville, three nieces and two nephews.

The Rev. Harold White conducted final rites in Love-Cantrell Chapel at 2 p.m. Sunday. Interment being in Shellsford Cemetery. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements.
